We design user-experiences

Two operating principles

  1. A satisfied audience benefits the client. Therefore, web sites that would benefit the client must first satisfy the audience.
  2. Do onto others as they want to be done onto. In practicality, this means that instead of trusting the client to know what the audience wants on the web site, we should find out from the audience.

The methodology we follow is known as user-experience design. User-experience takes into account the entire web experience that can be provided for web users. It considers the factors of presentation, organization, and interaction, and how each adds to the overall experience users have at the web site.

For more on this, see my web production tip from February 2003: User-experience is the key to great web sites.

Understand the business context and core message

While we place great emphasis on the wants and needs of web users, a site can not be successful unless the client's business context and core message is accounted for, up front. So, every new project we take begins with an investigation into the messages, offerings, values, and goals of our client.
